I trained my last dog incorrectly and can attest to the fact that you will not have a happy trusting companion if you correct or punish your puppy. I am learn8ng so much, thank you.

I noticed that our puppy doesn’t always follow us around as much. We went through a spell where he was biting me too much. My seventy year old skin was damaged a lot and he was aggressive, even leaping in the air, and grabbing my arm and biting hard. We finally learned to reward him when he bit softly and now he is behaving better. However we worry now because before we knew not to yell, tap him on the nose, or alpha roll him. Do we have to do anything different to undo this?

Dogs are very forgiving πŸ™‚ I would make sure that you make time every day for positive experiences for you and the puppy – playing with him, dong the enrichment games, going on a walk, doing some fun training, working on some tricks … and your puppy will catch onto how fun you are to be around and he will probably start following you around and seeking out your engagement and attention soon πŸ™‚

Our problem now is jim jumping and leaping on us. With mouth open. He’s getting big and I am afraid he will hurt my elderly mother.

I responded to this in the training equipment lesson where you posted πŸ™‚
