Tried a similar thing today by putting the treats on her front paws, that was a great challenge. She could only bear it for 6-7 times haha. 😊 Also tried the side passing for the first time but it was very difficult, for both of us. 😅 But we’ll definitely try it again! Thanks for all the lovely training tips and games - we both love is so much! 🐕

My two will pretty much work on anything, but it was tough for them to change a behaviour. Usually they just use the stool to practice perch work. Asking for all 4 paws up and then to spin took a bit of work, but they got it!

Dogs need movement all year round, but in bad weather it is sometimes problematic for a good outdoor training.

This is why we created this bundle of training exercises and fitness plans that will keep your dog in tip-top shape even when you’re stuck inside with no other options for physical activity available.

this Home Games Bundle can help keep your dog in shape!

your dog deserves better

Life with a dog is not just snuggles and happiness. There are accidents on your favorite couch, missing socks, incessant barking, chewed up cables, reactivity or some other degree of misbehavior.

Dogs look up to us for fun and guidance.

We are their main source of entertainment (at least we should be!).

Through training you are leading the way, teaching your dog what behaviors are

Without training and exercise, your dog might just grow impatient and annoying. He is missing the opportunity to be his curious, fun self so he is going to put that energy into other activities (which you probably won’t like).

So, what better way to burn that energy than through play?

The Home Games Bundle is a perfect combination of mental and physical training exercises to increase your dog's attention and self-control while keeping boredom at bay.

So, the next time your dog looks up to you with anticipation, as if asking: “What wonderful surprise have you prepared for me today?”, you’ll be ready to go in just 5 minutes.

And you can do it from home, on your own schedule, without paying hundreds of dollars to an in-person trainer.

Don’t Get Cooped Up.

With the Home Games Bundle, you and your dog are guaranteed to have FUN, even if you have a small space.

Go from bored to a happy dog and from stressed to proud owner as easy as 1-2-3, with no corrective collars, leash pops, harsh words or bribes

STEP 1:

Sign up for the Home Games and receive instant access to your online classroom, where you and your dog can find over 150+ lessons and lifetime support from dog trainers (we answer every question within 48hrs)

Step 2:

Watch the videos at your own pace and practice for at least 5 to 10 minutes per day to see results FAST

STEP 3:

Ask any question, any time – our pro trainers are here and ready to help you succeed.

The lessons are nice and succinct (and easy!) which makes it easier to incorporate them into daily life.

The Q&A below each lesson gives you access to tailored support from a team of professional trainers who will answer your questions, guide you in dog training, and accelerate your results. We respond to every question within 48 hours.

Underneath every single lesson there is a box, simply type in your question...

... and we will answer them in detail!

Check out these Home games for your dog!

In the Bundle, you will find a variety of games, each one great for bonding and teaching your dog essential skills. Here’s some of them:

Food Chase

This is a great way to “ask” your dog if he is up for training. If he is not interested in food chasing, he is probably not interested in anything else either, as it does not get any easier and more fun than simply hunting and eating.

Left And Right

Spinning is a behavior that dogs often naturally show when they are happy and excited (for example when they spin before going for a walk, before having their food bowl put down when they want to play ball etc.).

This makes it a perfect behavior to put on a cue and a so-called “happy trick”. If you have a dog who gets stressed and anxious, you can use happy tricks like spinning to bring back some spunk and excitement when your dog is “feeling down”.

Here or There

This exercise will help build a positive connection for the dog and make him want to come all the way to you. By backing up we can invite our dog into our space, and by rewarding very generously we make it a behavior he wants to repeat!

Parkour moves

Like paws up, which is a behavior that your dog probably already does many times a day. On stones in your yard, on fallen logs on your walks (maybe even on your kitchen counters ) … it is a very natural and easy behavior.

There is nothing physically or mentally challenging about it, which makes it perfect for dogs that are just starting out with learning or are easily distracted.

These games and training frameworks have worked for tens of thousands of dog owners.

It can work for you, too: if you have at least 10 minutes per day to invest in your dog’s training

Tens of thousands of dog owners just like you tried our framework and proved that the SpiritDog online classes can facilitate quick and lasting results. Our classes consist of videos that show you the progression of skill from the very beginning until it is perfected. That way you have the entire training process in front of you and can follow along with your dog from home.

Good training does not require you to put in many hours.

Our training framework works for you even if you’re not a dog trainer because it offers positive, step-by-step instruction that will help you train your dog in a short amount of time.

You get to use our well-proven methods that give you the know-how behind a training tactic, the step-by-step process of how you can explain to your dog what you want him to do fast and efficiently.

Plus, you can always ask our team of trainers for advice on your unique situation and dog.

Good training is all about consistency, patience and fun.

And that’s what we promise you will find at SpiritDog. We have classes for any level of training, common problem behaviors and more, so you can teach your dog a ton of new skills AND bond over fun exercises.

There is nothing better than playing with your dog, teaching him new tricks, and more importantly, good manners.

Play shouldn’t be a luxury. It’s a necessity for your relationship, as well as your dog’s development and overall happiness. And as you bond with your dog through play, you’ll gradually start to know what they’re thinking simply by reading their body language and how they act.

Being invited to play and taking you up on it will increase your dog’s confidence and play drive, as well as your confidence that your dog wants to play with you.

So, if you can't go out for a walk and need to fight boredom, here's what to do:

You and your dog have unlimited amounts of FUN with very actionable, short, fast games and training ideas

Many people already notice that after a few days of playing with their dog, the dog starts “asking” for the games. So if the owner usually plays at night after dinner, after just a few days the dog will stand there ready waiting to play. For many owners, this is a great boost in confidence as is a sign they are doing a good thing.

Fear-free training

With this training method you won’t have to use corrective collars, leash pops, harsh words or bribes.

Positive training

Each exercise in this bundle aims to help you improve your bond with your dog. This method is known as cognitive dog training which treats your dog as a partner in learning, and it encourages your dog to think and solve problems.

Fun & results-oriented

You don’t have to invest hours and hours of going through boring, extensive training before you and your dog see results with what you’ve learned.

Here’s how the Home Games changed these dog owners’ lives:

Indira and Kona

Letizia and Luna

My Kona became a member of our family at the beginning of this year – we adopted her from a shelter, where luckily she didn’t spend much time but don’t know about her background. She will soon be two years old.

Kona is my first dog, even if I wanted a dog for my whole life (I’m 50 :-)).

My father didn’t allow animals.

My husband loves animals but didn’t love the idea of a dog inside the house, and just last year I managed to persuade him – I think that helped the fact that our two daughters grew up, became independent and it was obvious that our parent nest is getting cold :-).

So – Kona impersonated the only thing I wanted whole my life, but couldn’t have.

Hence the happiness!

So, as an owner-beginner of a teenage, highly energetic, stressed out, and impatient dog, I am still struggling, in a process of learning, and daily becoming more aware that I have so much more to learn but also to influence in what my dog becomes.

My relationship with Kona is still a rollercoaster – I love her so much, but also want her to understand me right away as I tell her something – I don’t enjoy her whining and barking out of nowhere, but then I remember – hey dude, she is just a child, all alone great part of the day, waiting for us to come back behind that black door – that helps me to realize that I have to manage her and her surroundings.

I can see how playing is helpful since she is a very energetic and curious dog, very prone to run away in a hunting mode – but if I have something to play with her, she will never go away – especially when I take my bike to have her run beside me.

I love the way that she looks at me with anticipation – as if she asks: What wonderful surprise have you prepared for me now :-)?

The only thing that I struggle with is my discipline – I can see how fast she can learn if we are regular with playing and learning every day, but If I get lazy and skip handling Kona in a few days, she soon becomes impatient and annoying.

Most of all – I feel that playing with my dog is affecting me more, than her – in a positive way. It makes me get out of the house when I usually wouldn’t want to, makes me walk a lot more than before, and makes me plan excursions during weekends.

Also, I noticed that some people are accepting me differently when they hear that I have a dog – It is something weird, but I noticed that.

So – I think that you can see all that in this picture since I am really happy over my head that Kona came into my life. And happy for the exciting future that awaits us.

Melissa and Dune

Thank you for these game videos!  I’m loving them and so is my dog!  I’m very visual so this is so helpful to me. … these are easy and quick and just right for our lives right now.  Thanks again!

Love the December games! I’ve saved them the last few years and use them all winter long!

Roxana, Joy and Billy

Have a great week further and thank you so much for sharing this games ideas. They come so in handy on this cold weather.

In addition to the pictures I’d like to mention that these games are wonderful helpers in the winter but not only. Our two labradoodles love to play and interact with us. And nose work is actually one of their favorites. And I appreciate the games you share a thousand times because it’s so difficult to get inspired. Thank you so much, Steffi! Love your courses and love your gifts!

Wendy and Rosie

Rosie is a very sweet rescue my adult son adopted a year ago already housebroken and knowing how to sit and not destroy anything.  She was clearly traumatized in the past, so he spent the year just getting her acclimated so her separation and general anxiety isn’t as bad and she doesn’t expect to be hit (poor thing!).  But, she almost never plays with toys.  I found a few small, soft toys she’ll chew for as much as a minute occasionally, but that or a skinny bully stick are the only things that keep her busy by herself at all (except for naps or eating). She won’t even chase a ball or play tug of war!

But she LOVES chasing kibble, so now we do it in the park (she can see well enough since I don’t throw it far; she’s still leashed) and at home.

I’ve been going through your basic obedience course, watching the videos and reading the comments, and it’s been very helpful.  And I’ve been enjoying your email tips and videos.

This is for you if playing and training with your dogs is the best part of the day.

Here’s what you’re getting with the Home Games Bundle

Natalie and Pollywog

I posted a comment about my little dog Pollywog being trained using Steffi’s method.

This is a good thing and we have a great start using the Taking Turns course. At 9 1/2 years old we are going to do this! Over the years Pollywog has struggled with patience, LOL

She is a wonderful little sport dog but just ‘being still’ is not a skill she has mastered like my other dogs. I have attached a couple photos to show what I mean.

First is Pollywog in action at our shows doing tricks and flyball.

Next is her howling in position in a group Paws Up shot because she does not think she has to do this, LOL. Next you see her breaking her position and moving away.

Pollywog does the same thing with “honouring the dog working“. That is what we call it when the other dogs remain on couches or chairs while one dog takes their turn doing something. Pollywog pops off her chair all the time. Going back to the very beginning now and using the method in the Taking Turns course.

Feel free to use as many of the photos and write up.

BONUS#4:

Ebook – play with the dog in front of you (value $39)  – included with your bundle for FREE

No two dogs will play the same. How your dog likes to play will depend on his breed, age, play history and even how he feels on a certain day.

Without knowing that your dog has a specific playstyle it can be easy to think “there’s something wrong with yours”.

Some dogs are too rough, others are too shy, and might sometimes even refuse to play.

✅ Understand how to work with your dog’s specific play style at every age, so you can enjoy great fun together.

✅ Find out how your dog’s breed influences what games he likes to play.

✅ Is your dog the introvert or the extrovert play type? This eBook gives you a quiz that will help you find out which is your dog

✅ What to do when playtime gets out of hand to reset your dog as he gets crazier and crazier during playtime

And more…

Question #3: “Are there any games that can be used without the dog running or turning much?”

If your dog is recovering from an injury, it is best to check with your vet before you start any training. If your vet says training is fine, the Winter Games Bundle does have exercises that are a good match to get your dog thinking and learning new tricks without it being too physically demanding on him.

Question #4: “My dog wants to play all the time. Can this help?”

It’s important to acknowledge that some dogs will never have enough playing, which is why it is so important that your dog learns there is a schedule. This way the dog knows when he can expect activities and when not.

In the Winter Games Bundle, you will also learn about teaching your dog foundational skills, among which is learning how to stay still and impulse control.

Question #5: “What kind of games are included?”

In the Bundle, you will find a variety of games, each one great for bonding and teaching your dog essential skills. Here’s some of them:

  • Food Chase – this is a great way to “ask” your dog if he is up for training. If he is not interested in food chasing, he is probably not interested in anything else either, as it does not get any easier and more fun than simply hunting and eating.
  • Left And Right – Spinning is a behavior that dogs often naturally show when they are happy and excited (for example when they spin before going for a walk, before having their food bowl put down when they want to play ball etc.). This makes it a perfect behavior to put on a cue and a so-called “happy trick”. If you have a dog who gets stressed and anxious, you can use happy tricks like spinning to bring back some spunk and excitement when your dog is “feeling down”.
  • Here or There will help build a positive connection for the dog and make him want to come all the way to you. By backing up we can invite our dog into our space, and by rewarding very generously we make it a behavior he wants to repeat!
  • Parkour moves like paws up, which is a behavior that your dog probably already does many times a day. On stones in your yard, on fallen logs on your walks (maybe even on your kitchen counters ) … it is a very natural and easy behavior. There is nothing physically or mentally challenging about it, which makes it perfect for dogs that are just starting out with learning or are easily distracted.
Question #6: “How long should one session last?”

This will depend on your dog.  If you have trained him before in obedience or tricks if he enjoys working with you if you have several dogs and they take turns and can train a little, rest a little while the other dog works, then train a little more – you could easily play for 15-20 minutes.

If you are just starting with training, keep your sessions short and sweet. 2-3 minutes is plenty!

You can always increase it as time goes on.

Question #7: “Can I work on more than one game in a session?”

Sure! You can mix and match the games as you like. If you only have time for a very brief session, you can work on one game. If you have time for several, you can do more!

You will probably find that your dog likes some games best and they become his favorites. You can and should repeat these to make him extra happy 🙂

Question #8: “What if this training method doesn’t work for my dog?

Our purchases are risk-free! We have a 100% money-back guarantee and will gladly refund your money within the first 60 days if you are unhappy for any reason.

Question #9: “I don’t want to punish or correct my dog. Does this training framework use these methods?”

We do not utilize or recommend any kind of physical or verbal corrections.

Our training framework does not make use of corrective collars, leash pops, harsh words or other means of intimidation or punishment.

Question #10: “My dog is not food-motivated, what should I do?”

You can use some very special treats for your games at first, such as small pieces (the size of your pinkie fingernail!) of:

  • hotdogs, string cheese
  • chicken, roast beef
  • freeze-dried liver, cheese or chicken
  • premade raw food, such as from the company Fresh Pet

Don’t feed your dog before training – this will make him more motivated. Start with easy games and only increase the difficulty if your dog is happily playing.

Our team has worked with thousands of dogs and there sure were some picky eaters among them. If your dog has the habit of saying “no!” to treats, we will work together with you until we find the solution and get him working for cookies – promised!

Question #11: “Will all the treats make my dog overweight?”

This is an important concern, especially for small dogs or dogs that easily put on weight. If we are limited on how much physical exercise we can give our dogs (because of bad weather, health conditions or similar), they can quickly pack on a couple of pounds (like us humans 😉 ).

You should always subtract the amount of food that your dog eats during training from his meals.

If you are working on several games or for longer than a couple of minutes, the food you use during your session might easily replace your dog’s entire meal.

Question #12: “I don’t want to just bribe my dog with treats to exercise!”

Good – because we also don’t want you to do that!

In our courses, we use treats to change the dog’s “CER” (conditioned emotional response). In the beginning you will use many treats, but over time the dog’s actual feelings about his triggers change and you can fade the treats – your dog will still behave.

These games will never let your dog be bored again!

Bored dogs are very likely to get into trouble. The lack of mental stimulation and exercise during the day leaves our dogs looking for ways to entertain themselves, and it’s often something that gets them into trouble.

The Home Games Bundle contains a variety of games for small spaces that will help you bust your dog’s boredom. But these games are fun to play with your dog every day of the year 😉 because you and your dog will enjoy each other even more if you can bond through games.

I’ve had a great experience with SpiritDog training over the past 9 months. I purchased the Ultimate Puppy program along with several add on classes related to recall and leash walking. What I appreciate is the short and easy to follow videos with Q&A available in each section. And Steffi and her team have been so responsive, even following up to make sure things are going well. You can spend a fortune on dog trainers and while in home training is useful, its just not practical to get the amount of help that someone would need for a reasonable price. These videos and the progression through the classes are all very useful and sensible. I think you will see the thoughtfulness Steffi puts into her answers to all of the questions her customers post on each training module - she really cares and wants us all to have success training our puppies. I highly recommend SpiritDog Training to anyone looking for assistance without the use of in-home training

Thank you for this class. Before buying it, I was regretting getting a puppy!! Enni was a lot to handle and being retired, we didn't think we had the energy to raise a German Shepherd mix puppy! The enrichment games were especially helpful to keep her smart brain occupied and keep her out of trouble. We play them every day.

I am SO happy we signed up for this course! I learned more about my dog's reactivity in the first two lessons than I did in multiple sessions with a private dog trainer. My dog Moka and I are about halfway through the course and not only do I now understand her reactivity better, we are also seeing slow but sure results!! Steffi is amazing not only in how she presents her material, but also in the fact that she responds personally to every single individual who might have specific questions about their dog, which is pretty unheard of especially in an online class where thousands of people take it. She is truly dedicated to helping us and I am so grateful. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other classes when we finish this one. I know I will be coming back to the information over and over again. Thank you Steffi 🙏🙏🙏

I am absolutely loving this course! I have learned so much already and cant wait to put it all into practice. My dog is calmer and I know how to avoid situations that would cause her to become reactive and more importantly how to handle those situations when they may arrive. I am thrilled to have found this course and recommend it 100%.

I was a little suspicious about online training, I have to admit, but SprititDog blew me away. First, the content is positive, science based, takes into account your dog as an individual and the methods just work! Steffi has some really incredible ideas. Second, I had never had things explained to me so well before. The lessons are so well thought out and everything is structured and presented in a way that's both really smart and easy to follow. Third, customer service is incredible. You can ask questions and you get help and answers quickly, and you can just feel how passionate they are about helping us help our dogs. I found a few hours here already more helpful than any trainer I've ever hired in person. I really wish I had found SpiritDog years ago!
Pernille Joost Highly reccomend! Great course and trainer!

We are about 1/2 through the course - and already loving it! Everything is very simply explained - From the theory behind, the practical stuff, preparation, what to expect and the actual training. I love that it has text, illustrations, videos, comments and answers and short quizzes. Steffi (the trainer) seems very empathetic and conveys great patience and understanding of the struggles and frustrations that come with having a reactive dog. We've only just started, but I've seen changes, and my whole attitude to working with my boys reactivity has changed - I feel confident, optimistic and in safe hands with this course and trainer! I highly recommend this course for anyone struggling with a reactive dog - and who does not wish to use aversive methods 🙂

Last weekend, we added an 8-week old cairn terrier to our family after have several other cairns in the past. surprisingly, it is my first time raising a puppy from that age. I thought I knew what I was doing but also knew there were a lot of gaps in my knowledge. The Ultimate Puppy Course has proven to be extremely useful, including showing me why my original plan would not have worked as well as I had hoped. After 1 week, a few days our girl is no longer having accidents in the house, and her biting has toned down a lot (not completely...she is a puppy after all). We are also starting training on other behaviors and socializing her to other dogs and environments. Spirit Dog Training has a real winner here that is far less expensive that your typical in person training courses. I strongly recommend this course for new puppy owners. and anyone who wants to be a better trainer for their own pups!

My husband and I bought this class because our puppy Elli was a BITER. My arms looked torn up all the time and it was frustrating and I was actually regretting getting another pup at my age. After implementing the lessons on biting ... she stopped!! This class is worth its money, just for no more biting alone!!

Excellent video. I started your course 14 days ago and in the first lesson you do talk about 'prevention' first and foremost. My puppy was reacting to trucks and tractors on our road; chasing and barking along our fence. He is 9 months old and this behaviour just started. When I did lesson one, I immediately ordered a black screen for our fence. It arrived in 2 days and we put it up. I also started supervising his time outside (brought him in when I heard a truck or tractor coming) and began our counter conditioning training. I have been walking him daily slowly letting the trucks and tractors get closer (with an escape route planned of course). We have made HUGE improvements. Today lots of tractors and trucks went by when he was loose in his yard. He can see shadows through the fence and of course hear them loudly. Only glances towards the road but NO reactions!!! Woooo hoo Steffi your course is wonderful! Photo attached of Casper. Thank you

There's so much to love about the SpiritDog training! After having read many books, followed many courses and sought help of in-person trainers, we were still struggling with behavioral issues of our canine companion. The clear, extensive online course and very responsive staff of SpiritDog, has been most supportive to us and our reactive dog of everything we have tried thus far. Thank you!

We got this program from friends as a gift for our 10 week old Goldendoodle Gigi. The tips on puppy biting helped instantly with her incessant nibbling and chewing. Within a week she was only chewing on her toys and not on our arms anymore - PHEW! Gigi is 8 months now and we still refer back to the course. Recently we worked on loose leash walking and socialization. We feel that Gigi got a great start because of this class - thank you!

Hi Steffi I just wanted to share with you a little celebration. I started the reactive dog program back earlier this summer. My, now 18 month old border collie was very reactive to other dogs and some people. And while we are not entirely through this behavior yet, she can keep herself composed enough to pass the AKC canine good citizen test. This includes meeting another person with their dog and walking on a loose leash (which I learned how to help her with from your blog about loose leash walking). Without going into lots of details…because as you know there are always little triggers everywhere… Sophie was able to be in an arena full of other dogs and people she didn’t know and stay focused on me while still being able to look at and sniff in the direction of other dogs. It was amazing. I’m so happy. So thank you for your offerings. You make things simple and no big deal which is perfect for her breed and my temperament, too! Here’s Sophie with her ribbon (she also passed her trick novice and intermediate tests that day!) 🙏
